Take Advantage of these Youth Classes…
Calvary Youth participate in an an annual Mission Trip with last year’s being a trip to Heifer Ranch in Arkansas. There they learned about world hunger and ways to help people who need food. They are collecting quarters from the congregation to raise $250 to be used to buy an animal for a needy family that will provide food for the family.
Calvary Youth also participate in various mission projects around Paris such as cleaning the Trail de Paris.
Youth Sunday School
The Youth Sunday school is divided into two age groups, Jr. High and Sr. High Youth. In the youth Sunday school classes meeting at 9:00 a.m., we talk about the scripture text for the Pastor’s sermon on that Sunday to see if we have a different understanding of the text than he or she presents.
Calvary youth (UMYF) meet on Wednesday evenings following Calvary Cafe from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. This is a time of sharing with one another how the week has been going, where we have experienced Christ and where we have not, where we have shared Christ in word and deed and where we have failed.
We also meet on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. On Sundays we vary on what we do. Some Sunday evenings we have Bible lessons and others are more fun things such as games. For example each year near Valentine’s day, we have the “Oldies-NewlyWed” game where three couples from the congregation are invited to participate and answer questions about their marriage and then answers between each couple are compared and awarded points. After this, the youth are presented a lesson on love and marriage in which the couples are also invited to share what has significantly impacted their married life.
